Meet The Coach

My name is Dennis Griffin, I am the Managing Director of Maximum Achievement International Ltd and the Principle Life Coach.

Lets face it, there are lots of life coaches that you could choose to work with. Like many others, I am an experienced coach with several relevant qualifications. What makes me different to them; quite simply I am me!!! I believe it is important that you know a little bit about my background, and what lead me to where I am now.

My journey into the world of coaching began when I was twenty. My father died suddenly from a heart attack. During his last few years on this planet he was extremely unhappy, he struggled to balance his life, his motivation deteriorated, his health deteriorated, until it was all too much.

Seeing that happen and remembering his last few years started me thinking; what is life all about? There must be more to life than that! What can I do to make sure this does not happen to me?

Within a year or so, I had forgotten most of this and was busy getting on with life. I was extremely goal orientated and I became what many people would say was successful. I had a great job, nice house, good friends and a beautiful wife, but I felt empty inside. Then at aged 28 my first major challenge arrived....my marriage blew apart and everything I had worked for had gone!

After a year or so of emptiness and confusion my path brought me to New Zealand (yes, I'm from England). It was 1990 a time of recession, and finding a job was proving a challenge. I became stressed and frustrated.

By chance, I saw an advert in the paper for a free talk by John Keyhoe, the Canadian Mind Power expert. After attending his talk I decided that I was going to learn as much as I could about personal development, motivation, goal setting. I read extensively and trained in Hypnotherapy, NLP, Silva Mind Control, Counselling, Sales, Negotiation and Communication. I applied what I had learnt and again became what many people would say was successful. I married again, had two beautiful children, a nice house and a job as a national sales manager for a major multi-national corporation. I also worked part time as a motivational counsellor.

Unfortunately, or so I thought, disaster struck again; my second marriage ended after 7 years and I was made redundant, all in the space of 3 months.

Fortunately I finally realized that it was time to change. I realized that for life to get better, I had to get better; for things to change I had to change. It was seriously time to re-evaluate everything I had done in my life. Why did the same patterns seem to be repeating? What did I want from life? Who did I want to be? Whilst trying to answer these and several other questions, I discovered Life Coaching and was hooked.

I had spent most of my life achieving success as other people had defined it. I had worked very hard and achieved in several areas of my life, but some areas I had badly neglected.

In 2000 an opportunity allowed me to leave my employment, and Maximum Achievement International was born.

Now I have a very special wife, three wonderful children, and work in a profession helping other people to achieve success, happiness and fulfilment in their lives.

My Personal Philosophy

Experience is not what happens to us, its what we do with what happens. Whenever we do something we always get a result. It may not be the result we wanted, however then we can change what we are doing and get a different result. Everything in our past is an opportunity to learn from, it is not a burden, it is a resource if we choose to view it in that way.

As George Bernard Shaw said "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them".

My Approach To Coaching

Our coaching relationship is a partnership between two equals. I am a resource for you to use to your best advantage. I will provide the structure and ongoing support needed for you to stay in action. I will celebrate your successes and provide compassion and support during difficult times.

You are responsible for your own life, your choices, and whether or not you take action following our coaching sessions. I also encourage you to coach me on how to best coach you.
